HABITAT Workshops, 2020
In collaboration with artist Laurie Lambrecht
Supported by the Andy Warhol Preserve Visual Arts Program of the The Nature Conservancy
Location: Montauk Peninsula and other natural areas on Eastern Long Island
The Andy Warhol Preserve Visual Arts Program invites artists each year to produce public art workshops that celebrate the unique qualities of the ecologically significant Montauk Moorlands. In 2020, Laurie Lambrecht and I adapted to the constraints due to Covid, and led collaborative workshops via video-conferencing for adults with varied needs and abilities, by partnering with the Explorers Program and The East End Special Players of Eastern Long Island. We shared our artistic process and research conducted at the Preserve, and asked everyone to step outside and explore natural environments accessible to them through photography. Click here for more information on the Andy Warhol Preserve Visual Arts Program.
The gallery features Explorers Program and East End Special Players photographers: Mary Romano, Robert Brodrick, Phebe Rogers, Collier Lee, Samantha Ruddock, Rebeccha Jansson, Ashley Avallone, Justin Brown, Julian Garcia, Susan Blacklocke, Jacqui Leader, Nakowa Weeks, Angela Shipkoski, Lynn Fletcher, and Eliot Smith.
